When any young man or woman signs up for military service, he or she does so with the full understanding that they may be required to put themselves in harms way. But exposure to Asbestos on their own ship wasn’t in the job description.
(start on comment below) I think it’s also worth mentioning another part of the scandal is how even today, so many people are so totally unaware of any of the products in their homes that could pose as an asbestos hazard. I have to say, the only way I found out about it was they guy at Century Tile told me about it. Ironic, because at the same time he told me “just put down a wet towl and wet the tiles and you can just chisel the old ones off” Put me, my family, kids, at risk to sell tiles?WTF?

Thanks for all the info. I recently did a very small job of repairing some plaster in a small bathroom in my house. I’m now glad I didn’t take up the 9×9 asbestos asphalt tile. It’s an absolut scandal that this could happen to an entire population with such reckless disregard for people. Some of the stories are so sad it’s hard not to get choked up a little. How did children in Libby, or any town in America, or the world for that matter deserve that?
